Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was an American genius! He went from being a kid making inventions in his garage to building a billion dollar business. He couldn't have done it without his very good friend and great inventor Steve Wozniak, also known as "Woz"!
His life!
He was born on February 24, 1955. His dad, John, and his mom, Joanne, just graduated from college and weren't ready for a child, so they put him up for adoption! The one thing they wanted for Steve was a good education. Paul and Clara Jobs wanted a baby and she promised Joanne that one day he would go to college. When he was young he loved to make cool new toys with his friends but mostly with his dad. He said his dad was a "remarkable man". He didn't do very well in school and didn't really like it, but all that changed in 4th grade in Mrs.Hills class. She would bribe him with money to work harder and it worked. After that year they wanted him to skip 2 GRADES! Clara and Paul didn't want that but they let him skip 1 grade and head right into middle school. Mountain View, California was surrounded by great inventors, professors, engineers, and designers. When he was only 12 years old, he called Hewlett Packard and was offered a summer internship. He saw his first desktop computer at Hewlett Packard. Then, he met Steve Wozniak in high school and they designed games for Atari.. He said Woz was the only person smarter than him he had ever met. Steve went to college for one semester and dropped out to go to India to study Buddhism. After Steve returned, he hooked back up with Steve and started Apple Computers. It all started with the Apple 1 then the Apple 2 desktop computer. Then they really wanted to get creative and make an i-pod touch which was a mini device to play music from his creation called I-tunes. Then came the I-pad and I-phone witch made great money. When all of this was going on, Steve had 4 children, met his biological mother and siblings and deepened his practice of Buddhism. In 2003, Steve was diagnosed with cancer. He immediately began to make long range visionary plans for Apple and its products. On October 5, 2011 Steve passed away but he will forever be in Apples history. California recognizes October 16th as "Steve Jobs Day", which is a state holiday.
